Diamantina
The mesas opposite Hunters’ Gorge at Diamantina National Park take on beautiful colours in the early morning. In the gorge proper, two opposing bluffs with the river between are known as Diamantina Gates. The choke formed here when the river is in flood must be a spectacular sight as waters build up to the north-east behind the gates, and spill out over the surrounding plains to the south.
