Lament of a Dry Land

During the drought of 1993 we kept the cattle alive on molasses plus various bagged additives  - I found it cathartic to create my own drought language of symbols painted on patches cut from the feed bags. I  pieced them together in various ways. In this version they are collaged onto ply board, another version became the installation "Quilt for a hard bed" which won the $2000 Flying Arts/Shell Award in 1993.
