During the
drought of 1993 we kept the cattle alive on molasses plus various bagged
additives - I found it cathartic to create my own drought language of symbols painted
on patches cut from the feed bags. I pieced them together in various ways.
In this version they are collaged onto ply board, another version became
the installation "Quilt for a hard bed" which won the $2000
Flying Arts/Shell Award in 1993.
