Study in Green
Painted for 50 Shades, the 2018 Western Downs Regional Artist Awards. There are many ways to interpret 50 shades, technically, literally, imaginatively - and I chose to ignore the obvious. You can argue whether a SHADE is achieved simply by adding black to a colour, or is it a variation of a colour or hue - eg green can be described as olive, lime, sea, grey, blue, yellow, red, light, dark, medium – just to name a few of the adjectives you can apply. I chose to use a rainforest landscape which illustrates the many shades of green perfectly. I used every tube of green paint I possess and every colour mixture I know to create this painting
